Default travel to belize

I'm going to Belize for 12 days in January and would like to stay in very
clean and comfortable, but not necessarily upscale, accommodations (bed and
breakfasts or guest houses) in the Cayo district and on Ambergris Cay.

Any recommendations?

TIA

Hon

We stayed at the Trek Stop a few years ago and loved it. Very basic but
the owners are fantastic.

I would stay a few days in San Ignacio too. We didn't and wished we had.

"nicer" is a subjective thing. Also, Ambergris has many different types of
accommodation over a large area. Properties on the north end of the island
can be located amongst much beauty. However, they are usually quite
expensive considering the scale of things. Properties both north and south
of town can be as quiet or more quiet than Caye Caulker. That said, Caye
Caulker is a much quieter island on the whole, which also means fewer places
to eat, clubs, etc. Caulker has a much slower pace in town as opposed to in
town in San Pedro. However, some people are actually bored on Caye Caulker
.. . then again, some people are bored in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. Go
figure.

From the way I interpreted the original post, Iguana Reef wouldn't fit into
the OP's budget. It is one of the more expensive places on Caye Caulker.

Didn't see the original post so I may be off base, but we enjoyed our stay
at Chocolate's on Caulker last year.
