| | Guest | What to do in Venezuela Hi. I'm visiting Venezuela this Christmas (from 12-15 to 1-1) and will be
staying at least part of the time with a family in Puerto La Cruz. My
girlfriend will be showing up later for a few days. I'm trying to figure
out what exactly to do. Go to Isla Margarita (how expensive?)? Or is there
anything to see near Puerto, or what. Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.

| | Guest | What to do in Venezuela US$25 hotels? Did you go during a really "off-peak" season? I'm all about
the thrift, but I wouldn't want to get stuck in some dive with the little
lady.
Are these cheep hotels fairly decent, and if so, do you think that these
places would be available over Christmas break? And if yes, do you just
walk up and find one or do you need to call ahead? I really appreciate
you're help.
Any other recommendations that anyone may have for Margarita would be great.
Thanks,

I'm planning to come to Venezuela end of november till end of december and
want to travell around.
So I wonder how the political situation is at the moment. Can I safely
travel around to Merida, Ciudad Bolivar, and somewhere around the coast.
I've done the same in 2000 and had no problems at all travelling around. The
places I visited then were, Chichiriviche, Choroni, Merida and Coro.

Why you post the same story whenever anyone asks anything about
Venezuela? I have read your story several times already in this group.
As someone already noted, there are criminals everywhere, including
whatever your country is. So stop with it please!

I recommend hotel Monserrat, it's in front of Altamira Square,
Altamira it's really safe, it's on the east side of the city. Kitchen,
refrigerator, pretty close to altmira subway station. really cool
nightlife overthere and close to other neightbors like Las Marcedes
(such as Miami's Coconut Goove).
You must make a reservation in advance because sometimes is full.

Yes, it's really quite after referendum. I was in Merida 2 weeks ago,
Viroska: it's a rock & salsa place, cool place. Lots of beautiful
women all over the city, and people likes "rumba" a lot.
