OT: Taking a car to Honduras

This might be off topic, so if you guys know of a better group to ask ...

I've heard that Honduras has set a maximum age for vehicles that a person
can take down and leave in the country. Something like no cars/trucks older
than 1998. Does anyone know if that's true and if so, could you give me any
additional details?

Pretty simple..no car older than seven years may be imported. There are
exceptions for antiques but the paperwork required is only exceeded by
the mordidas required to get it in.

It helps that new Toyotas and most other Japenese makes are cheaper in
Honduras than in the US anyway.
