Default Mayan Ruins and Studies

Does anyone have any suggestions for books or travel guides to read and
study before planning a trip to visit Mayan ruins in Mexico?

Thanks,

Andy

There are better books on Mayan history and better general guidebooks,
but the best guidebook on the ruins is Archaeological Mexcio by Andrew Coe.
Be sure you get the updated second edition.

Incidents of Travel in the Yucatan, volumes one and two, by John L.
Stephens (illustrations by Catherwood),An Account of the Things of
Yucatan by Fray Diego de Landa, and Yucatan Before and After the
Conquest.
Those should keep you busy. They're the three seminal histories of the
Maya/Spanish eras. Or for a quicker read, try Inigo Fernandez' History
of Mexico Translated by David Caseldine.)
