Default Looking for a small quiet resort

I'm looking for a small quiet resort (cabins, bungalos...) to stay at
in one of these cities:

Cabo San Lucas
Cancun
Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo
Los Cabos
Manzanillo
Mazatlan
Puerto Vallarta

Everything I'm finding are big hotels, resorts, several stories high
with pools.....

We are just looking for someplace right on the beach to just relax,
away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to get places when we
want.

Thanks,
Debbie

What happened in many of these places is that the cabins and bungalos
were bulldozed to make way for people with more money to spend. You will not
find what you are looking for in say--Cancun--for example. The land became
too valuable for little cabins. You can find some very nice places well
outside of Cancun, which is absolutely full of tourists anyway. Paamul (for
example), about an hour south of Cancun, has some nice little bungalos on
the beach. I think you will find the pattern the same in many of these
places, with Cancun being at an extreme end of the scale.
