Default Barbados- Looking for recommendations

We will be going to Barbados this September and staying at Coconut Court
Beach Resort. What are the "do not miss" things we should do? We have 7
days there. What about dining? Opinions on places?

Thanks.

Sandi

Default Barbados- Looking for recommendations

very open question, Dinning out means different things to different
people, there are places to eat in Barbados to suite most taste from
Kentucky to some of the top restaurants you will find anyway in the
world, there are also some places that look good in the holiday
brochure that are awful, ( Avoid Oceans Restaurant St Lawrence Gap).

my wife and I like to eat out regularly and here are a few of our
favorites,

Champers --> South coast - 2/3 Miles from Coconut Court, just past
Rockley beach, food is always excellent, Tables a little cramped,
Wonderful view over Rockley/Accra beach and out to sea, 2 course with
a bottle of wine Approximately $100.00 US$ per person.

The Cliff --> West coast - 5/6 Miles from Coconut Court, through
Bridgetown at the start of the west coast. - The menu is extensive and
the food is always excellent, the service ambience is everything you
would expect from a top restaurant, the cliff is tired down the side
of the cliff with a view down to a small beach and directly out to
sea, September is in the middle of the hurricane season so it can get
a little hot at the cliff this time of year. They do have numerous
ceiling fans but it is an outside restaurant. 2 course with a bottle
of wine approximately $200.00 US$ per person.

Other top Restaurants on the West Coast.
Tides - Lone Star - Sandy Lane ( L'acajou not Bajan Blue ) - La Mer at
Port St Charles
South Coast
Pisces - Josef's.

Mid range café/Bar Type Restaurants on the South Coast.
Waterfront Café. - Café Sol - McBride's - Café Jungles - The Ship Inn
- Bellini's - Lucky Horse shoe.

If you want some fast food, try the Chicken Breast Sandwich at
Chefette, Rockley beach.

If you are driving round the island you can get a good lunch at
Cocomos (west Coast) or Round House (East Coast)

All the above we have eaten at and would recommend, but that's just
us, my wife and I enjoy good food, wine and company, with attentive
service which all of the top restaurants will provide, but may be
lacking a little in the Bar/Café restaurants.

Hope this helps

Phil.

Default Barbados- Looking for recommendations

Hi Sandi,

We have been to Barbados several times, and the last 3 times stayed at
Coconut Court. An exellent hotel, very homy, friendly and relaxed
atmosphere.
We love it there, and have booked the hotel from december 7th to 27.

There are several places to recommend to go to. Dont miss out Oistins Fish
market. Most lively on friday nights. Lots of good food, music and things
that happens. You can go there any night, but fridays is most fun. Just take
the bus right outside the hotel. It only take 15 minutes or so.

Harrisons Caves is very exiting to see. You take a eletcric train around in
the spectacular limestone caves on the center of the island. You can either
drive there with a rental car, taxi, or you can take a Harrisons Cave bus
from the main bus terminal in Bridgetown.

A trip to the east coast is also very nice. The island is very different,
depending on where you are. The south coast where you stay is very busy,
while the east coast is more untouched, quiet and lots of nice nature. Just
be careful with the sea. Dont swim on the east coast. Big wawes!

I love the catamaran tours, and you can book one directly at the hotel. The
tour goes along the coast, probably the west coast. You sail, stop for
snorkeling, swimming and relaxing on the beach. Eat and drink on board.
Very very nice thing to do!

Places to eat? Red Rooster across the street is ok. But that is a place I
use to go mostly for having a drink. Brown Sugar is good. Located next to
the gas station on the left side on your way to Bridgetown. Take 15 minutes
to walk from the hotel. There are plenty places to eat in St.Lawrence Gap. A
street that wake up in the night time. Sweet Potato is good. Josefs is
exellent, but pricy. But if you look for something to do a special occation,
Josefs is the place to go. Plenty good places to go to listen to music and
dance also in St.Lawrence Gap. Reggea Lounge, After Dark, Ship Inn.... Each
place has their nights that is good. Ship Inn can be good one night, and
quiet the next. Depends on what band that is playing. So ask around.

Well, that was at least a little beginning, if you have any kind of
questions, feel free to ask.
