Default please recommend Island w/ inexpensive Hotel on nice Beach

We're about to give up on planning this vacation -- please help !

After much research and planning, we were all set to stay in St. Martin
at L'Hoste Hotel on Orient Beach. The hotel was $125 per night from
7/23/06 thru 7/29/06. But then we learned about the nudity at
neighboring Club Orient and my daughter feels really uncomfortable
about going there now.

We're looking for an inexpensive hotel ($125 or less) on a really nice
"tropical" beach with no nudity. Are there any inexpensive hotels in
St. Martin that fit this description? We're open to considering
other islands as well. We looked into Palm Beach in Aruba, but the
hotels on the beach are $250 and up.

Your experience and advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for
your time.

I'm not sure what hotels you were looking at on Palm Beach, perhaps the
Hilton or Marriott... But the Holiday Inn/Sunspree is a very decent
hotel (we've stayed there a couple of times) and your week is showing
rates starting at $130/night (plus taxes, I believe). There are others
also, such as the Mill (although not right on the beach) and several
hotels or rental condos on Eagle Beach.

You might want to consider Caye Caulker in Belize. You can rent an
entire house there for mucho cheap.

If you're determined to go St. Maarten (one of my favorite islands),
try looking around Simpson Bay--the Royal Turtle comes to mind, now
that Le Chatelaine is closed.
