Antigua - July for Sailing/Diving?

Hi all,

I am toying with the idea of booking a week or two with Sunsail this
coming July, based at their watersports club there (or the Med,
depending on what you say!).

My girlfriend and I are novice sailers, having learnt over two weeks
with sunsail last year (dingy sailing etc, RYA Level 1&2 - we have not
sailed since), and are simply looking to get some more practice in, in
appropriate winds. We also are keen divers so I anticipate getting a
couple of dives in also.

The advice I am getting is that Dec-May is the 'best' time to visit,
and that Sept-Nov is the hurricane season with lots of showers & high
winds etc.

What will July be like in terms of general weather then, will the wind
be non-existant or fine for our needs?

I would very much recommend a side trip to Montserrat, especially
for the diving. You can get a direct flight from Antigua. There
is also good diving on Dominica and Guadeloupe, directly accessible
from Antigua.
