We travel to Barbados in March 2006 and would like to take a boat ride
to see the island from the sea. We are pensioners and non-swimmers and
all advertised trips seem to include swimming with turtles. Does anyone
know of sailing trips in Barbados that would suit us? Any information
on Barbados attractions would be appreciated.

Hi there,

There is two very nice ways to see the island from the sea: Either by one of
the catamaran sailboats, or on the Harbour Master.
The catamarans is those that advertise swimming with turtles. And I am sure
that even if you are non swimmers and pensioners, you will enjoy this
wonderful trip. The boats take you most likely up along the west coast from
Bridgetown. Not all the way to Speightstown, but at least half way between
Holetown and Speightstown. There you anchor, swim, or go to the beach,
before you set sail and sail some more. The entire trip take about 5 hours.
If you are not comfortable with swimming, they have lifejackets on board.

Harbour Master is the same thing, but without sail. And a much much larger
boat.
I prefer the sailboats. They are about 55-58 feet long and 25-27 feet wide,
safe, dry, and very easy to get in touch with other tourists.

Anything specific you wonder about before your trip to Barbados? Just feel
free to ask.

We went twice during our two week stay on Barbados. Very enjoyable,
relaxing and friendly trip with Tiami Catamaran Cruises. No, you don't
have to swim with turtles, and possibly you won't see turtles, as was
the case on out second trip for some reason. Have fun!

Hey all, Happy New Year...
wantd to see if anyone had any special insider information on Barbados.
Where to stay, a cool place to hang out, getting polo tickets... you
know hip tips. I just finished writing my first book, "The Girlfriend's
Guide to Finding Adventure... without breaking a nail., (on lulu.com's
site temporarily until I can add more Barbados info)... which includes
a whole lot of Barbados info... But, I feel it is "light" on insider
info for the chapter. Please send any info ASAP. thanks for your help!

I can probably help you out with some stuff about Barbados. But try to be a
little specific of what kind of info you want, so I dont spend a lot of time
writing about things that is insignificant to you.
