Default Questions about travel to Belize

We wish to travel to Belize, and have some questions regarding places
and accommodation:

1. We can only go in August - is this a bad month?

2. We want to spend time on desolate beaches, preferably on one of the
cayes. Turneffe looked good but gasped when I saw the prices of the 3
lodges... Can anyone recommend a well priced, good quality island
lodge on one of the more remote cayes?

3. We also want to spend time on Caye Caulker / Caye Chapel - can
anyone recommend good hotels (not the most expensive - say 6 on a scale
of 0-10).

4. We also want to spend time inland and are looking at Chan Chich -
but one question, is it possible to get to Caracol and Rio frio Caves
from Chan Chich Lodge on a day trip?

Default Questions about travel to Belize

I returned from Belize two weeks ago. Fabulous destination! I spent 4
days in the jungle and 4 days on Ambergris Caye. Caracol is a day trip
on bumpy dirt roads. Well worth it. I also encourage taking a day trip
to Tikal, Guatemala. The Mayan ruins are beautiful. I stayed on the
largest caye and it was not crowded at all. I spent time in the airport
with several couples who had been on private islands- all had nothing
but wonderful things to say about their trips. I did note however, that
they paid far more then I did for snorkelling and sailing excursions (
we went to same places).

I stayed at San Ignacio Hotel and The SunBreeze Hotel. I do not
recommend spending any time in Belize City- it's ugly and dirty.

Look up Discovery Tours. My guide was 100% Mayan. His name is Roberto
and he was wonderful.

I know you'll enjoy your trip!

Kim
