| | Guest | Belize Information Requested Hi. I'm thinking of going to Belize with my fiancee for my honeymoon this
August. Most of the hotels/packages we've seen are on Ambergris Caye. So
far, the places we've seen on the web are:
The Inn at Robert's Grove
Journey's End
Belizian Shores
Belize Yacht Club
Does anyone know what these hotels are like, and how is Ambergris Caye? From
what I gather, the Caye seems like a fairly developed tourist area, but
still very nice and pretty. Any information and opinions about Belize, where
to stay, when to go, how to get there, etc. would be appreciated! We plan on
scuba diving, swimming, relaxing by the pool, and going on some eco
adventures. TIA.

Can't say. I haven't been to Placencia.

Not recommended. You are just going to have to trust me. :^)

It depends on what you guys want. The Belizean Shores has very nice suites
and the most beautiful pool on the island. However, it is a bit isolated
from town and easy access to all the great restaurants and fun bars.
> Belize Yacht Club
Not a bad location and some of the suites are very nice. However, I think
you can do better for the money.

I love Ambergris Caye, so as to how it is . . well, I think it is just
great!! What are you guys looking for?

It has lots of pretty but there's some not so pretty too, however, you will
not be exposed to that unless you want to be.

Then Ambergris sounds like where you should be. Now, if you were to give me
some ideas of what you expect from your accommodations and how secluded
you'd like to be (or not be) from town, I can probably help you more.
First thing I'd like to point out, is that the beaches are not like they are
in Cancun. There aren't any cleansing waves coming in because of the reef
breaking just offshore. This means there's lots of turtle grass in the
shallows. Some people don't like wading out past that to have a swim.
Also, it collects on shore but all the resorts keep it raked up. Many of
the resorts have seawalls and their beaches don't even extend out into the
water at all. However, there's lots of swimming done off the end of piers
and there are piers everywhere. | |

| | Guest | Belize Information Requested Thanks for the info, Chilly. As far as accomodations, we're not too fussy. A
nice, clean room with enough space, light, and A/C for the money would be
perfect. We'd like to stay at a place with a nice pool and services, but
we're not looking for the Ritz in terms of prices for rooms/food/etc. How
far from the restaurants, bars, etc. would you say Belizian Shores is? It
sounds like a nice place.
Our ideal hotel is usually ~1-2 miles from stuff to do. We don't like to
stay right in the middle of cities, but it's nice to be close for a walk or
taxi ride to eat at restaurants or go out for the night.
Is it very rainy in July/August? I checked the average rainfall for the year
after writing my first post and noticed that it's their wet season. I know
it's tropical and expect some rain, but we might re-think our decision if
it's monsoon season. And last, we plan to dive. I'd imagine that the diving
stays nice all year, but if the ocean gets rough in July/Aug we might have
to reconsider. Thanks again! You can also email me if you'd like to take
this offline. Just remove the SUCKAZ.

I'd say that it is out of the way to most of the places that you'd like to
visit in the evening but it's do-able by way of water taxi (which costs
extra). And you could rent a golf cart to take you into town too (again
extra)

San Pedro isn't a city it's a little town. Only 3 streets wide and about 2
miles long. The main road stretches north and south much further than that.
Belizean Shores has a great pool compared to most other places.
Take a look at Xanadu.

It's hurricane season. If there's no hurricane or tropical storms it will
be quiet and very hot but the diving will be just fine.
