Yes it is possible. And no, you probably don't want to do it. If you
could get a flight from the Negril Aerodrome to the Tinson Pen airport
in Kingston and back, that would be the way to go. To my knowlege there
are no round trip flights available, but check with Air Jamaica to be
sure. Things are in a minor uproar with AJ, so I wouldn't bet the farm
on them. There are charter flights available, and possibly that may be
an option. Public buses will take about 6 or more hours each way. A
private hire taxi will be VERY expensive and take a minimum of 4 hours
each way, white knuckles no extra charge.
I've driven the trip many times, and always taken my time. It is an
enjoyable trip, especially through the hills around Mandeville, but not
one to be done in one day.
Check on a hotel in Kingston- the Pegasus is always a good bet, or one
of the bed and breakfasts on the hill near UWI Mona. That may be a good
option for going and staying overnight.
