Default Cuba in June=rain and storms or sun and calm?

We're thinking of going to Cuba, to the Varadero area, in the first
half of June this year, but read various places about the rainy season
stretching from May to October, high winds etc.
Should we choose another destination, or do you think we still might
be blessed with a week of mostly sunshine and calm weather if we
choose to go there in June?
Any experiences or knowledge about the Cuban weather?

Regards,
Christopher

You'll be better in June than in, say, September/October. Much less
likely to have a serious hiccup, like a tropical storm or hurricane.
It will also be less busy, so it would in fact be my choice of time
to go (though I'd visit other parts of the country).

If you're set on the caribbean, you can really only chose something
way south like Trinidad/Tobago or Curacao/Bonaire if you want to be
more sure of dry clear weather around that time. It's hot anyway,
so IMO a little cloud is a relief, but to each his own.

I'd stick with it if I were you.
