Default Grenada Question

For those who have been there, how would you rate the beaches?

The beach at Morne Rouge Bay is a classic, somewhat secluded, with
a rustic beach bar at the Gem resort, the only commercial outfit on
the bay. The Grand Anse beach is much larger and much more commercial
and has the all fancy resorts located on it. Its very nice but not as
good as the beach, say in Negril Jamaica, IMO.

Default Grenada Question

Grand Anse is an excellent beach with the most activities. Morne Rouge
is smaller, quieter, and in some ways nicer. Beaches in the L'Anse aux
Epines or Saline area may have a restaurant or hotel, but few other
activities; as beaches, they are OK. Elsewhere, La Saggesse is calm,
shallow and attractive, and Bathway in the North is very popular with
locals. There are other beaches that are quite deserted and some are
great for beach-walking. You may get more information at
grenadaexplorer.com.

Default Grenada question

I am planning to visit Grenada in August. We are looking at La Sagesse
Nature Center. Anyone have experience with this place, and also with
the mosquito and sandfly situation in late summer?

My wife and I have twice been to Grenada the second week in August for
Carnival and mosquitos were a major problem for her but not for me.
I guess it depends on your body chemistry.
Also, I remember seeing a girl from NYC who had a huge array of bites all
over her back from mosquitos so my advise is be prepared. Its also hot and
humid and rains a couple times a day and the trade winds haved slowed so plan on
doing a lot of sweating. Nevertheless, we love Grenada and plan to return
this August for another Carnival.
