Whoa! Suggestions to obtain reasonable airline flights to St Thomas?

We're planning a July extended family vacation to St Thomas but are
shocked at the airfares from the northeast
(Philadelphia/Allentown/NY)... $800 per person! It seems the rates
for off season (July IS off season, right?) are more than double the
March rates.

Any suggestions for obtaining reasonable airfares to ST Thomas from
the NE US would be greatly appreciated!

Out of curiosity, just did a quick travelocity search and found $509 out
of Philadelphia and $388 out of Kennedy. Just keep searching!
