Default travel to Dominican

Hi There
I was just wondering what everyones thoughts are on travelling to the
Dominican Republic, with Haiti being in such turmoil. I understand the UN
and lots of US and other forces are now there, but it still freaks me out to
be in a country right next door.
Does anyone have any advice..
Thanks!

Elizabeth

It's not a lot different than it always was, and not many people
knew anything about the country next door all along, so I expect
there will be no major difference.

Punta Cana is on the east coast, completely away from the turmoil of Haiti;
Santo Domingo is also a good distance. The closest resort area would be
Puerto Plata on the North shore, but even that is not very close to the
trouble in Haiti.
