| | Guest | Anguilla - Meads Bay Hideaway or Rendezvous Bay ? I'm thinking of taking a last minute trip to Anguilla sometime in the next
couple weeks. We're thinking of staying at either Meads Bay Hideaway, which
is apparently new, or Rendevous Bay, which is a little less expensive, but
both get the same "star" rating on most web sites.
Has anyone been to either of these places and care to comment on your
experience?
Rendevous Bay gets really good reviews on Trip Advisor, but Meads Bay
Hideaway has no reviews, probably because it is new resort.
Thanks for any advice.

since this is the first year of operation.

Gary, I most heartily recommend Rendezvous Bay over Meads Bay, on several
levels. One being, the kitchen at RB is out of this world, and the service
is exemplary. The owners are one of the premier families on the island (the
Gumbs family); in fact one permanent resident is 92 year-old Jeremiah Gumbs,
who was instrumental in securing the independence of Anguilla from its
alliance with St. Kitts. This man testified before the UN Security Council
in 1968 and is a real live revolutionary. The rooms are spacious, clean,
and charming, and it's view of St. Martin is incredible.
I just returned from a trip to Anguilla in November of last year and toured
both properties. RB, all the way!

| | Guest | Anguilla - Meads Bay Hideaway or Rendezvous Bay ? I went to this island last year not by choice but a trip offered by work
related. My husband and I stayed at Cruiniart resort. The property is
beautiful with highly trained service staff. We had a room which was a suite
and with ocean view. The head chef was the head chef for Four Seasons in
Toronto. I am not sure what the cost was the trip but certainly was
enjoyable.

| | Guest | Anguilla - Meads Bay Hideaway or Rendezvous Bay ? The cheap rooms at Cuisinart are over $400 a night, and you don't recall the
cost? I'm impressed :)

| | Guest | Anguilla - Meads Bay Hideaway or Rendezvous Bay ? Gary
I have to agree with Da-Parrot, I had the pleasure of visiting
Anguilla twice last year, staying at Rendezvous Bay hotel and Villas
both times. Wonderful staff, great HUGE rooms right on the beach (you
could fit a family of 12 on the balcony) the restaurant is
unbelievable (try the rice paper snapper) and the beach is to die for.
Stay in one of the upperbeach front villas, pack the fridge with Carib
- you will be in heaven on earth.

| | Guest | Anguilla - Meads Bay Hideaway or Rendezvous Bay ? Thanks for the responses. While the cuisinart looks nice, I just can't see
dropping what seems to be more like $600/night for the cheapest rooms, and
that doesn't include food, of which I've read is *very* expensive. If money
was no object, I'd probably look at Cove Castles...
My only concern was the age Rendezvous Bay -- not having much time before we
plan to leave, I'm afraid I'd get stuck with one of the less desirable (e.g.
original) rooms. I suppose I can try to sort this out before booking. I did
read several glowing reviews of the restaurant.
Thanks again!

Maui & Kawaii is going to be hard to beat...I've been to Anguilla before,
but never for more than a day. In any case, I'm psyched!!!
Thanks again for the tips.
