You can use both.
1 us dollar = 2 barbados dollar. When you use US dollar in shops, you get
back change in Barbados dollars.
Have a nice trip.

Take neither. After you go through passport control, hang a sharp
right where you will find a branch of the Barbados National Bank that
is open every day from 0800 until the last plane lands or arrives.
(This can be really useful if you arrive in the afternoon or at a
weekend as banks in Barbados typically open 0800-1700 Monday-Thursday
and 0800-1500 Friday.) It is unlikely that there will be much of a
queue as not a lot of people know about this branch. You can change
your Pounds for Barbados dollars. See if you can get some change for
buses (BB$1.50 per ride), taxis, etc.

Do not change your currency in hotels or any other establishments
unless necessary.
