| | Guest | How to Convince Boyfriend of NEED to Visit Caribbean? All my life, I have longed to visit the islands. Now that I am finally in a
long-term relationship, I suggested that we rent a small beach-front cottage
or villa for a week, which was met with disdain. The boyfriend is a hunter,
who spends two to three weeks of his vacation time hunting in the Northwest
or here at home. I've begged and pleaded to no avail. Any suggestions for
convincing him that relaxing on the beach and exploring a Caribbean island
would be fun too?
If not, does anyone have any suggestions for a place I can go alone, safely?
I am thinking of Turks & Caicos, the Grenadines, out islands of the Bahamas,
etc. Unfortunately, all of my girl friends are married with children.
Thanks for your help!

sites or pick up a few magazines and leave 'em laying around the house.
Maybe he'll see something and GET IT! I guess some people just don't like to
visit paradise

Perhaps suggest chartering a boat. He might feel that sailing would
be more fun than "relaxing".
Maybe get him interested in hunting under water (scuba or free
diving). Does he ever fish? There's lots of places you could go to
do that.

| | Guest | How to Convince Boyfriend of NEED to Visit Caribbean? Some hunters are also fishermen. Suggest that he spend a few days fishing,
maybe even join him on one or more charters. Costa Rica is a really good
spot for fishing, but almost anywhere has charters.

Unless you enjoy sleeping on the cold ground, getting smoke stench
in your hair, walking through the forest in cold rain, eating
Dinty Moore (sp?) straight from the can, wearing the same underwear
for 4 or 5 days, yaa-daa, yaa-daa, yaa-daa ---
I'd suggest a new boyfriend. :-)

Do a cruise. Price is about the same, maybe less. Very safe environment,
there are usually other females who left their 'hunter' SO's at home. Lots
to do. See several islands, do a lot of shopping (onboard or off),
sightseeing and sunbathing. More food than you can imagine. Music,
entertainment, exercising, spa, casino or stay on deck and bask in the
tropical heat.
NOTE: This activity is highly addictive. Your SO treads on veryyy thin ice
if he lets you go on a cruise. You will never want to go to Disneyland
again!!! LOL | |

LOL. Don't think I haven't considered this. But the boy just went and grew
on me. Not ready to trade him in just yet. ;)

Unfortunately, his idea of paradise involves camping in Montana and sighting
down an arrow at the vitals on an elk or bear.
I am with you - who couldn't love an island paradise? Well, I found one guy
who doesn't get it. The only thing that's ever gotten his interest up is the
Kenny Chesney video of "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem".

I'm the one that likes to fish - he has little interest. But thanks.
