Default Medicines For Travel To Belize?

We will travel to Belize, and we would like recommendations for health
precautions.

We will be with a Sierra Club tour of major tourist points for most of
the time, and then snorkellilng on our own. The tour is an elderly
group, and the itinerary will be tame.

We have tetanus.

Have you suggestions for:

Typhoid?

Hepatitus A?

Malaria?

Dengue?

Thank you very much in advance.

Last time I went to Belize I came home with 3 botfly bites. These were
horribly painful as the botflies were developing in my leg (chewing through
nerves) and doctors were trying to diagnose the problem. My advice: take
and USE insect repellant. Jane

I went to Belize and the only thing I came home with was a hangover from too
much partying the night before I flew home.

I make it a habit while visiting my Latin American neighbors to eat the
food, and drink the water. I've never gotten sick from any of it. Most
tourist zones have water that in some instances is purer than some of our US
cities water supply. As for bugs, when we can get lyme disease from our own
back yard...it pays to be prepared with repellent wherever you travel. I
just think that all this talk about bringing medicines just isn't necessary.
If you do get sick you can probably get it cheaper at the local pharmacia.

waveringhobbit is on a distinguished road
Default Vaccines are the key

I strongly suggest to get vaccines against those diseases that you listed. Schedule an appointment with yout doctor. It will never hurt to get a few shots before a trip to a foreign country.
