Default smithers, burns lake

Hi All, since this is a nice quiet time in the newsgroup, I was wondering if
anyone is from or knows these area's of BC. I want to get up there soon and
check it out. I am wondering what the towns are like, are they freindly?
Is there alot of crime? Is there alot of unemployement? What kind of mills
are there up there? Stuff like that. Any info would be great. Email me at
trishica at shaw.ca if you want.

Lo Trish- used to live in Burns Lake- very friendly, little crime-not
much to do really except if your into the outdoors. Smithers has a
healthy Arts scene- kind of bohemian in a way. Jobs are fairly scarce
since its the last corner of the developed world to feel any benefits
from a booming economy-Compared to where you are now. its hard to say
since I dont know where you are now :-)

Thanks,

I am in the lower Fraser valley. I hate it! too busy for me. I've done my
time in large cities, 15 years in Toronto. I work remotely so have the
ability to go anywhere. We are looking for a nice town to raise a couple of
kids in peace and quiet. And that area, well the price is right up there.
We are total out doorsey people so it sounds nice. I spent some time in
Canmore Alberta, and loved it. But the prices are too high, and it's too
much of party town for my liking. We are trying to get up there soon, but
the weather hasn't agreed much this fall. Thanks for the input.

Trish
