Calgary to Vancouver road-trip in 5 days

Hi, my girlfriend and I are planning a trip from Calgary to Vancouver
at the end of August. We have 9 days overall (flying into Calgary early
on the morning of day 1, and flying out of Vancouver late at night on
day 9). We are pretty sure we'll spend little time in Calgary, drive to
Banff and spend the night and the following day there. Afterwards we
know we want 3/4 days for Vancouver and (possibly) Victoria. The
in-between part is something we are trying to decide about. From advice
on this group and all the travel guides we are not sure if we want to
go something like Banff-Revelstoke-Kelowna-Princeton-Hope-Vancouver, or
perhaps go first to Jasper and take another northern route. We would
appreciate any advice on a nice yet sensible (in terms of driving hours
each day) route that could be done in 5/6 days (Calgary-Vancouver).

There's actually not much to see and do in Banff (or Jasper,
for that matter) but watch zillions of other tourists.

5 to 6 days is enough time for any of the, basically, three possible
routes (northern via Jasper - Valemount, middle via Golden - Revelstoke
or southern via Cranbrook - Creston)

My suggestion: From Calgary go north, turn left in Red Deer and stay
in or near Rocky Mountain House for the night.
Next day: Take Hwy 11 (David Thompson Highway) towards Banff and
Jasper Natl.Parks.
Your first time in the region? Ok, then turn left at the Icefields Parkway
and head for Lake Louise, just to get it off your list (been there, done
that, got the T-Shirt <veg>), and take the route Golden - Revelstoke -
Kelowna - Penticton - Princeton - Hope - Vancouver.

And when you get to Vancouver, try to squeeze in a trip in a seaplane

Banff and Jasper could be the highlight of the trip if you go to the right
places. Stay out of the towns and spend some time hiking in the
backcountry. You can hike to alpine lakes, glaciers, waterfalls and
spectacular lookouts. There are no boring routes through BC. Whatever
route you choose will be enjoyable.
