| | Guest | Penticton - BC Beautiful little town in the summer. Between two lakes. Apparently has a
great hockey tradition. Dry climate Dynamite for tourists during summer, I
was there last summer.

| | Guest | Penticton - BC I went to Penticton for an interview that was supposed to be for 6
months, and ended up staying for 14 years LOL....so it's not all bad...
Having lived there for 14 years, Penticton is "the" only place to be in
the summertime.
it has 4 distinct seasons, it's within 2 hour drive of 4 major ski
hills, it's a summertime mecca for boating, fishing, etc.
Population is about 35,000 during the winter months, say from
Septemberish through to april, then it explodes, to about 200,000 with
the influx of the tourist season.
Sleepy hollow, good for bringing up kids, Kelowna is 40 miles away,
Vernon is 73 miles away, and Kamloops is 146 miles away(Kamloops Host's
the world Fly Fishing Championships pretty much every year, 50 lakes
within 30 min drive)
You can't go wrong, BUT saying that, if you're used to a big city say
Toronto/Vancouver, then it will take awhile to adjust to the non
bustle.
You can get from one end of Penticton to the other in about 10 mins,
it's 5 miles long, as was previously said, situated between two lakes.
Lot's of older folk up that way.
Average temperature in the summertime hovers around 30-35 degrees, and
it's a "dry" heat....
You can't do wrong in Penticton, lot's of party life....
and again there is NO other place to be in the summer time.
You don't say how old you are, or what type of job you're going
to...that could also help in pinpointing a few things.....
Good luck, you won't be disappointed... | |
