Default Citizenship card.

What countries can Canadians travel to with just a citizenship card?
Passports are expensive and are only good for 5 years.

Nonsense! Canadian passports cost about 5 cents a day, about the same as
a provincial drivers licence. They cost considerably less than travel
or health insurance, and give you internationally recognized legal
protection.

And like most other ID's, they are good for only 5 years because the
holder's appearance changes during that time. It is to the holder's
advantage that the passport photo is renewed from time to time; it
increases the confidence of foreign authorities in the validity of the
document, and therefore in the legitimacy of the presenter.

Default Citizenship card.

British passports on the other hand are valid for 10 years and now even
babies need em, as long as they don't smile on the photo the passport
agency are happy.

5 years seems a much more sensible option for adults at least.

Default Citizenship card.

That works out at $18.25 a year, (0.05 c * 365 days) a lot cheaper than
here in the Uk, in fact I think because Mr Blair is obsessed with ID
cards a passport could soon cost over £70
