| | Guest | Northeast from Toronto. Suggestions? Hello, all: Just a quick note seeking advice.
I'm leaving next week for two and a half weeks vacation. I'm driving from
Toronto northeast. This will mean Kingston (Thousand Islands) and then
into Quebec (Quebec City, of course). Maybe some whale watching? Then
across the border into New Brunswick and, hopefully, to Nova Scotia and
Prince Edward Island. Then back.
I know that sounds a bit ambitious for, say, 18-20 days. Does anyone have
any favourite travel stories and/or suggestions for that route? I like
small towns, scenic drives, maybe a winery--and avoiding the tourist traps.
I do have a guide book for eastern Canada, but it just scratches the
surface really. The best sort of trip is the one where you take the advice
of people who have been there before and have good suggestions.
Restaurants? Hotels? Must-see spots?
Any and all advice is gratefully received.
Many thanks.

I was planning on doing the same trip last year in 14days!
Would've been rushed, but didn't want to use up ALL my vacation time.
I haven't been....but I think there's a lot of nice places to take in if you
just do the tourist thing....

You should have read the small print in the tourist guide: eating
lobster is compulsory in PEI; same for home made biscuits, corn, cole
slaw, cold bean salad and blueberry pie (blackberry in August).
You have to stop at the checkpoint on the Confederation Bridge on your
way out to have your shirt inspected; if it doesn't have enough food
stains on it, they send you back .... | |

| | Guest | Northeast from Toronto. Suggestions? More about the lobster at McDonalds. I shudder to think of what a
McLobster dinner would taste like. HIDEOUS!!!!!
I agree about those small church suppers. They are all over Canada and an
absolute delight. All you can eat for $10.00
