Planning 2007 Trip to NS and NL

My wife and I are starting to plan a 2007 trip to Nova Scotia and
Newfoundland. We plan to fly into Halifax, rent a car, take the North
Sydney ferry to/from Newfoundland and fly out of Halifax. We will
probably have 17 days for this. I'm thinking about spending 2-3 days
(excluding flight days) on each end of our trip in Nova Scotia and am
looking for suggestions on things to do and see. We prefer not to pack
too much into a day. We enjoy rugged scenery, whale-watching, etc.
I'm also considering making sure we do the tidal bore rafting trip.

Also, any suggestions for B&Bs would be helpful. Thanks.

Make sure you check out the town of Bonavista and the lighthouse there in
The "Dungeon provincial park". The area is beautiful and is where John Cabot
first landed in North America apparently in 1497. The views there are
beautiful. Also the town of Trinity is great as well, and is where they
filmed the movie Shipping News with Kevin Spacey.
