Vancouver - June - Whales - Waterfalls - Wildlife There are several reputable whale-watching companies operating out of
Vancouver and its southern suburb of Steveston. Whether or not any one
trip will find whales is a matter of chance.
But I am afraid that your notion of finding "wildlife, bald eagles,
whales, birds, seals, bears" is a bit unrealistic, largely because of
the distances involved and your self-imposed time limit of 1 day.
The only suggestion I can make is that you join one of the combined
"lunch and scenery" cruises that operate daily out of Vancouver Harbour.
The harbour itself is really only the western end of a long -- and very
beautiful -- fjord called "Burrard Inlet" that reaches east all the way
to Port Moody, and north several miles into the Coast Mountains along a
branch callled "Indian Arm".
Alternatively, some cruises head west out of the harbour under the
spectacular "Lions Gate Bridge" and then turn north into another fjord
called "Howe Sound".
Sewell's Marina in Horseshoe Bay, at the entrance to Howe Sound, also
offers "nature tours" of the area.
And a note about the phrase "west coast": when people in Toronto or
Britain say "west coast", they mean Vancouver; when Vancouverites say
"west coast", we mean the outer coast of Vancouver Island, a much
different place both geographically and spiritually.
Enjoy your visit!
