    For Chicago, there's "Piece" (brewpub with guest beer),
    the Hop Leaf (beer bar), and Goose Island (brewpub; I prefer
    the Clybourne street location) as my top destinations in
    Chicago proper. There are bunches of other places in the
    greater Chicago area.
    If you can push past Detroit, I'd add suggest Bell's
    Eccentric Cafe in Kalamazoo.

    Detroit Beer Company, downtown Detroit. 2-3 blocks from Comerica Park
    and Ford Field.
