Apart from conversion fron 5' 3" to SG this must be a record for length
of time an intercapital line has been closed. Pretty sad really that
rail is such a bit player in the Australian transport equation these
days that it can tolerate a wekk long closure of a main intercapital
route.

Heard on talkback radio today Vince Graham explaining why people were being
bused between Syd and Taree to get on (and off) the Bris XPT.
He said it was due to a derailment somewhere south of there which stranded
the XPT.
Thought someone might have come up with the details by now.
Anybody fill us in on what happened and where?
