[VIC] Fuel economy of services In general, diesel engines ran at about 0.35 lbs. of fuel per Brake
Horsepower/hour. This figure is called the Specific Fuel Consumption. Diesel
fuel is about 8 lbs/gallon, converting all to metric, gives SFC of about
0.27 litres of diesel fuel per kW/hr.(I hope!) This figure would be for a
normally aspirated engine. Could be less now-a-days with the more efficent
modern engines. Then one would have to work out the average kW over a run of
a certain time.

Bill.
