They are scheduled to run basically only in Sector 2 which does not
include the north shore.

Heaps of them on South Western line.

Excellent Question

Cityrail divides it network into 3 sectors

Sector 1 - Illawarra, South Coast - basically all trains out of Mortdale CS
Sector 2 - East Hills, Bankstown, Inner West, Campbelltown, Carlingford.
Secotr 3 - North Shore, Hornsby via Strathfield, Western Line, Central Coast
& Hunter lines.

I can't remember off hand where the Southern Highlands fits in to that but
hopefully that run down should help you. If you ever see a Cityrail working
timetable, they have a list in the front cover which designates train types
and which run numbers they use in which sectors. It also allows one to see
where they run certain trains.

Here is the current one (I think) taken from the 29/9/04 edition

Set Type Sector 1 Sector 2 Sector 3
M Set 711,712 737,742-744,746,750
754,758,759

T Set 17-35
61-64,66-73

T + 1-7
200/500 series

S/K (8cars) 74-97

S Set (8cars) 8-10,13-16 38-41,45,47-49
101-108 51-53,55-57

S Set (4cars) 98A-98B

C/R Set (6 Cars) 120-133

R Set (6 Cars)
141-154

G Set 300/400series
(7x4 car sets)

K Set
800 series

(4x2 car sets)

L Set K300/K400 series 99A-99D
(3x2 car sets)

a "/" means either eg S/K means a K or S set
+ indicates one with vigilance control. They have a plus on their set
number board. The Tangara's have also been painted yellow

Anyways, I hope this helps

They are known as M-bugs because they had (and still do have) a lot of
problems. They were years late arriving!!!!

What kind of problems do they still have? Most seem to be running regularly
and without any problems.
