Default PASSENGER TRAIN IN ALICE YARD

Does anybody have a clue as to the purpose of the (very old style)
passenger train standing in alice yard on one of the back service
roads??? Have scoured the newspaper (a misnoma) and have looked on
the net. But it seem to be a mystery.

Any info appreciated, particularly when it is scheduled to depart.

Default PASSENGER TRAIN IN ALICE YARD

G'day all, the fueling shed in Alice Yard was only decommisioned in January
this year, with the through running to Darwin. The last time I used it was
on 8th of January to fuel FQ04, after we arrived back in Alice after being
accredited to work from Alice to Darwin, cheers....Jim

Not quite, the use of road tankers to fill locos directly is common
elsewhere ie Tasrail last I heard had be doing it for a while and not
just in rail industry. You now have small tanker trucks running around
large industrial and other work and construction sites filling loaders
and forklifts once a day to save site operations time and the
especially the big headache of owning and maintaining a fuel storage
tank farm which are highly prone to theft and dealing with the EPA.
