Why do they do this, John? If no one travels on these services, do they
do it because they have drivers with a frenetic urge to drive buses in
the early morning? Or perhaps they use these runs for punishment of
drivers they don't like? Or do their buses shrivel up if they don't
experience the cold morning air regularly? Or do they do it just to give
you something harmless to get upset about, so as to divert you from more
venomous lines of complaint?

Or is it just remotely possible that they have some constructive reasons
for doing such bizarre things?

Please explain.

What tourist would want to depart from Emerald at 3:45am for Mackay?
What tourist would want to arrive in Longreach at 3:45am?

If YOU could travel by train to Emerald and continue to a town on the
Emerald-Mackay route by coach at a reasonable time of day, would you
do that, compared to being required to depart at 3:45am?

If the SOTO was backed up with a co-ordinated rail and coach service
Brisbane/ Rockhapton, to offer better choices of the days of travel,
would you expect patronage to increas on QR trains?

If a daylight coach service connected with the "Westlander" in Roma,
for Longreach/Mt Isa, would patronage on the "Westlander" increase?

One can by sure that more people would use the "Westlander", but is
THAT what QR want?
