rail locations unreachable by road On the newsgroup uk.railway recently, there has been a discussion about
stations with no road access. A similar discussion re Australia may be
of interest.
There is of course a question of definition. Someone would say that you
can't reach an underground station by road, but presumably there is a
road immediately accessible. The intention is really to identify places
where you couldn't get in by road except with quite a long walk after
you left the road.
There've certainly been a number of crossing loops and other safeworking
locations in Australia (especially NSW) where there has been no road
access, at least until relatively recent times. Till quite a late stage
in its history, for instance, Border Loop was only accessible by rail.
Anyone care to start the list? |
