    DR (Disaster Recovery) systems need to be regularly tested. One assumes
    they do actually regularly test all such systems (on Sunday morning or
    something).
    Still every thing may have been recently tested , but the hand over to
    the backup system chose an importune time to fail itself.

    Would be interesting to know what happened.

    And Cityrail were working at one point on consolidating the 'superboxes'
    into one central control centre - but that project ran into difficulties
    and was abandoned in the end.

    If they had simultaneous parallel supplies to the bus bar then there would be no
    need for a kickover device.
