Perth is much drier and warmer than Sydney. Although there is a bit of
rain at the moment, generally speaking you can expect sunny days most of
the year, warm in Spring and Autumn through to scortching hot (40deg C)
in Summer.

No, shopping is not as good as the east coast, and consumer goods are
generally more expensive. Food (both fresh and restaurant) is notably
more expensive and of poorer quality (generally) and lower variety.

I couldn't really say. Perth real estate in general is now secondl only
to Sydney in price, but I don't know how this has affected the holiday
market.

There are as many crocodiles in Perth as there are in Sydney (ie none,
if you exclude the zoo). Snakes, you might see in a national park - not
that I ever have. Mosquitoes, probably fewer because it is drier, but
they are around. Make sure you cover up/use repellant because the Ross
River virus has been detected as far south as Perth.

Full of English people and probably the least 'multicultural' of any
Australian city - although you will see more Aboriginals on the street
than you would in Sydney (although, sadly, the locals do tend to be
racist).
A very beautiful city to look at (at least the centre is) and it's great
place to hang out on the beach and drink beer, but not much else to do.
A *much* slower lifestyle than any of the eastern capitals. (Remember
the locals' nickname for the city is 'Dullsville' and for the state
'Wait Awhile"). The locals are generally friendly though - not like
Sydney!
