Snorkeling from Cairns?

Hi,

My wife and I want to go snorkeling while we're in Cairns this
September. We've done a pontoon platform on the reef when we were
younger and that was kind of rough for my wife who isn't a good swimmer.

In looking at trips offered I see some take you to an island. Is the
snorkeling good at these islands? I would expect the water would be
calmer than on the open reef. Any recommendations or thoughts would be
appreciated

Yeah, you can always go to Green Island - its one of the trips offered from
Cairns. I think snorkelling from there is incredible. And it is also much
easier than in the open sea - you can go out anytime you want. It was good
alternative for my stepmum - she hates waves and she really enjoyed our trip
to the Green Island.

My husband isn't a great snorkeller and although on our first visit to Oz he
thought the Barrier reef was fantastic, He much preferred the calmer waters
on our second trip, around Green Island.

When we were there they also had a submarine trip,which was reasonably
priced ( can't remember how much) and very enjoyable.
