Default Melb to Adelaide - what to see???

I am planning a 7day break from Melb to Adelaide, it will be June next year,
hopefully we will hire a small Camper Van. We want to do the Great Ocean
Road (of course :P) but what else is there?
Kathy.

What are your interests? Major country cities like Portland
and Warrnambool? Grazing districts and sleepy country towns?
Beach towns, goldfields, historical, vineyards, the Murray
districts? Or all of the above?

Just some ideas among many:

The coast:

Great Ocean Road, Warrnambool, Tower Hill, Port Fairy,
Nelson, Mt Gambier, the Coorong, Milang, Goolwa, Fleurieu
Peninsula.

Gold, sheep and vineyards - Ballarat/Bendigo, then wander
via the old gold towns either north towards Mildura and then
follow the Murray, or west towards Horsham and the western
Districts.

From what you've said so far, probably the coast may suit
but start by going to Ballarat first for the history of the
gold-rush, Eureka etc.

It may be a little chilly in June - can get very cold in
Ballarat, so make sure the campervan has a good heater:-)

Cheers, Alan, Australia
