Default Sunshine Coast Ocean Swimming December?

After concluding that December ocean swimming in N Queensland may be
impossible given the stinger situation, we are revising our plans and would
appreciate input as to where we might go after Port Douglas that we could
indeed swim and play in the ocean for a few days.

We assume we'll be flying.

On an earlier trip we travelled to the coast south of Brisbane and would
like to see a different area---I'm starting to explore the Sunshine Coast.
We are not surfers and will have already done our snorkeling at the GBR. We
would welcome any suggestions for places with good ocean swimming.
Thanks,
Diane

Oh really?

So the data on the Bureau of Meteorology's website showing the
December mean maximum temperatures for Cairns and Byron Bay - 31.4 and
26.4 degrees respectively - is purely subjective?

Must tell them that it's all hogwash and they're wasting our taxes.
