Default thailand: Lopburi and Ayutthaya

Hello,
Need some advise. We would like to visit Lopburi and Ayuttaya in
Thailand.

1) Would it better to take day trip to each location from Bangkok?
2) Or stop on our way over to Chiang Mai?

Thanks,
JGoo

In 2004 i skipped Lopburi (isn't this the city witht the monkeys?) but did
Ayuthaya on my way from BK to CM. Consider also to do Sukhothai! In my
oppinion i liked Sukothai even more than Ayuttaya. Both are easy to visit by
bike. But, if you have time enough...visit them both!

enjoy,

Maus
