Default going to cambodia

Hi Ng

Me and my husband and children are planing to go to Cambodia this summer. I
have looked for cheap flight tickets to Khnom Phen, but it seems as if the
flights to cambodia is much more expensive as to for example Bangkok.
Therefore we are considering to go fly to Bangkok and take a bus from
Bangkok to Cambodia.

So my question is: Does anyone know how many hours bus a trip from Bangkok
to Khnom Phen is, and how much the price is and if there is any problem
going by bus to Cambodia.

Thanks
Anne

Might be better to go to Siem Riep (Angkor Wat) by bus. From there
you can take a - very fast - boat to Pnomh Penh.

The city of Pnomh Penh is very boring, to say the least. Although the
"killing fields " and the Khmer Rouge prison-museum, both in or near
Pnomh Penh, are absolutely worth while a visit, but prepare yourself
"for the worst". It really is horrifying.

Default going to cambodia

hi,

My name is Jorge and I'm from Portugal. I'm also planning a trip to
Angor Wat for August. I plan to travel with my wife and two kids (7
and 11 years old). I'm a bit worried about taking the children because
of the diseases they would be exposed. Lots of people have told me
that it is all right to take them. Maybe we can exchange ideas about
it and about all the details of each other trips. I have lots of
information about the place. If you want my email is

Default going to cambodia

If you really want to travel from Bangkok to Phnom Peng there is no
easy option, to my knowledge there are no direct bus options. There
are two different routes you can take, the first is a southerly route
via Trat, Hat Lek, Koh Kong, Sihanouville. The second is an Easterly
route via Aranyapathet, Poipet and then either direct to Phnom penh or
Phnom Penh via Siemreap.

The first option requires the use of several busses boats and taxis.
Start with a bus from Bangkok to Trat transfer to a Minibus to get to
the border town of Hat Lek. The border closes at 5pm and busses start
from Bangkok at 6am so it is possible to make it to the border by
midday. Once you have crossed into Cambodia you need to find a taxi or
moto for the short trip to the river. Once at the river it is possible
to catch a small boat across to the island of Koh kong. The Fast ferry
to Sihanoukville departs once a day at 8am so you will need to spend a
night on the island. Once in Sihnoukville it is possible to use a
taxis, share taxis or bus to get to Phnom Peng. Depending on the state
of the road it is possible to make this journey in as little as 5
hours and will cost from 800B.

Bus Bangkok -> Trat 165B 5hrs
Minibus Trat -> Hat Lek 110B 1hr
Taxi Hat Lek -> River 50B 10mins
Boat River -> Koh Kong Island 40B 15mins
Ferry Kohkong ->Sihanoukville 650B 4hrs
taxi/Bus Sihanouvill -> Phnom Peng 800B 5hrs

The second option requires less changes of transport. Start with a bus
from Bangkok to Aranyapathet (alternatively a train can be used).
Transfer to a Tuk Tuk to get to the border crossing at Poipet. From
Poipet it is possibel to either go direct to Phnom Peng (Never tried
this route) or head to Siem Reap and Ankor Wat (The road conditions
are variable and it is a fairly adventurous trip). Once in Siem it is
possible to catch a fast boat down to Phnom Penh.

Bus Bangkok -> Aranyapathet 175B 5hrs
Tuk Tuk Aranyapathet -> Poipet 100B 15mins
Share taxi Poipet -> Siem Reap 400B 12hrs
Boat Siem Reap -> Phnom Peng 1200B 5hrs
or
Bus Poipet -> Phnom Peng 8-12 hrs depending on
season

I hope this is of some help
