Default Travel to Bali

I'd like to visit Bali for 2 weeks in September. However, some UK
travel agents are still not dealing with trips to Bali on advise of
the Foreign Office. Has anyone been recently and if so, what was the
atmosphere like? Having lived in Northern Ireland for over 10 years,
instinct tells me that there's nothing to worry about, however I've
got to try and convince my wife! Any advise would be much appreciated

Of course I want to buy things in lower price. Especially things like
brand bags or brand clothes. However, can I believe in merchants in
Bari? Do they cheat us ?

Some brands make only the cheaper end of their product range in Indonesia.
For example, Reebok are from both Indonesia and Korea, the Indonesian shoes
are a good price, the Korean are more expensive than at home. Then, of
course, there are the really cheapimmitation Reeboks. Buyer beware!

I went there in 2000 and there was a good low price mall in the
southeast of Bali (Nusa Dua). They had for example Lacoste and Jockey
(no fake) at VERY reasonable price, about 1/3 to 1/4 of the European
price at that time.
