how heavy can a carry-on bag be?
mine is 10 pounds--too heavy?

I think if you carry on a bag the size is most important........that
is being able to fit in the overhead compartment.

Use the basic rule of thumb. If it's heaver than you, it's not a carry-on.

Yours is pretty typical of wheeled luggage, most of that weight is in
the frame, handle and wheels.

If you can carry an old fashioned type bag without wheel, those can be
as little as 3-4 pounds.

It is not that 10 pounds is too heavy, but there's often a limit to the
total weight of your carry-on bag, so a light bag will let you pack
more.
