You are correct, I did have a contract with United, but unlike most
contracts I don't have to buy my ticket from them. So, my "contracted
price" from UA was only $70 more than my uncontracted price from a
competitor. Nowhere in my contract does it say that if you want to
change your flight that you have to buy your ticket from us. Again,
my point is that contract or not it doesn't make business sense, in my
opinion, to charge more for the same thing when you have already got
my business. You are right they can do what they want and they will
do what they want but as a customer I can take my business elsewhere
as well as any other customer. So why not have it make economical
sense to stay with the same airline you purchased your ticket
through. That is all I am trying to say. | |

I don't believe I was ranting I was stating my opinion which I do
believe I have the right to do. Apparently you forgot to take your
medication. | |

True and I actually looked into cancelling my flight with UA and then
use the credit they gave me for another flight but after all their
fees etc, I would have only like $20 left. Figured that wasn't worth
it. You are correct also that other companies have similar policies
and most people such as myself do not buy non-refundable tickets
thinking they are going to need to change flights (otherwise I would
have paid for a refundable ticket). Again, I had the luxury of not
having to change my flight but would have liked to. So, when I could
find a ticket for cheaper from one of their competitors (forgot to
mention that their competitors flight was non-stop, which is usually
more expensive) they decided to help me out. Which is fine, they
didn't have to but I think both parties are happy. I think the only
person not happy here is John but from the looks of it he is never
happy.
Brian I appreciate your comments and insight and further comments
would be appreciated.
Thanks,
