Default Dr says I can't fly, any difference?

Am here for surgery, dr says I can't fly for another day or so? Will a note
make any difference, since United wants about $1K to make that change?
Anyone with any experiences helpful. Customer Service barely speaks
English, so they're useless. Would be happy to just do standby a few days
later, but don't know how to go about it.

thanks

Health insurance will reimburse for travel expenses? I just thought maybe
the airline would waive or reduce all the change fees.

thanks

You have nothing to lose by asking your insurance company what its
policy is, as well as the airline.
