Default Cancelled Flight (what is airline required to do? )

I had a flight out of LGA,it came in and they announced it would be a 30
minute delay due to mechanical problems. It was sheuled for 747am
departure. They later said they were waiting for a mechanic ( he was
being flown in) They put the passengers on stand by for a flight at 10
am. I did not get on the flight. I was booked on a flight at 11:15 am.
I arrive at my destination 3 and 1/2 hours from my original flight. Did
the airline owe me anything due to long delay? I don't fly much but felt
i was entiled to something for the delay. Thanks

No. If the delay is caused by a mechanical problem or weather, you are not
entitled to compensation.

In my experience, (Domestic US) weather gets you nothing. Mechanical
delays will have meal vouchers for delays, and hotel vouchers for
overnights.

Sure can. I'll start now. Happy Holidays.
