Default Mexico Travel advice

I am hoping to get some advice on what town and hotel to stay at in
Mexico. My husband and I have been to Playa Del Carmen twice and loved
it; lots to see and do in the Yucatan and a nice atmosphere in
town.(we've also been to Cabo twice but have heard it's gotten much
busier) I would love to try some place new but don't want to be
dissapointed.

We enjoy lounging by the beach (nice white sandy beaches are dreamy), a
higher end all inclusive hotel (If I'm on holidays I want to do it
right)that's right by the beach. We stayed at the Gran Porto Real in
Playa because of it's location, right on the beach and walking distance
to shops. We're not interested in being "a taxi ride" from town and
we're not big into the party scene (but do enjoy our non stop
margaritas by the pool/beach). We liked the atmosphere of Playa too
(smaller and more intimite) and I'd like to find some place that's
similar.

My husband enjoys diving while I'm more of a "massage on the beach"
kinda girl (okay okay so I'm chicken)so some place to accomodate this
too would be great.

I've been looking at Ixtapa and Huatulco but just can't get a feel for
where the hotels are actually located (in town as apposed to on a
"hotel strip".

If anyone has advice to give I would greatly appreciate it.
~ Ciao

Default Mexico Travel advice

We did a Panama Canal Cruise in February and one of the ports was Huatulco.
We fell in love with the port . It is fairly new to tourism and was a
beautiful spot . The people were so friendly and did not hound you at every
turn . The beaches were lovely the Hotels were nice looking . Shopping was
cozy. It was a spot I could easily go back to just to relax. If you want a
few photos I can send you a couple by e-mail so you get an idea of the spot

If you want a more real town then Zihuatanejo about 6 miles from Ixtapa.
I'm not sure it offers all inclusive though. It is more real Mexico
than a created resort.

Zihuatanejo is certainly far more "Mexican" and less touristy, but the
"real" deal are the numerous inland vacation spots with better climates,
food, and pleasure for the relaxation oriented....

For several days, a spot like Fortin de las Flores, near Orizaba, under the
Volcano, between Vera Cruz and Puebla, gardenias floating a in a pool with a
bar at "stand in the pool" height used to be hard to beat, with nearby
Cordoba featuring near tropical views and colonial architecture.

I like Patzcuaro, an hour from the Morelia airport (directs from LA and
IAH), but there are others.

Google your way to a real life...

Morelia and Michoacan have web sites, IIRC, but that's what your search key
is all about. Patzcuaro is a community with a handful of small downtown
hotels within blocks of the tw main plazas.
