I am a minority in holding the following view. The only good thing
about low cost airlines is that it has forced big network airlines to
bring down their fares too (and restructure in order to survive).
Unless the price difference is immense (highly subjective ofcourse), I
do not like the idea of a no-frills and no-customer service flight. I
detest it. Since airlines like British Airways have reduced their
fares for European flights and still has remained full service (free
drinks and meals/snacks in Economy) I will continue to choose airlines
like them than the likes of easyJet or RyanAir.
In the US, the low cost airline JetBlue is very different from it's
European counterparts. JetBlue provides a very high level of customer
service unknown to easyJet and RyanAir. The only thing that separates
JetBlue from a full service airline is the fact that they do not
provide any meal service even on a 5 hour flight. Other than that,
they have satellite TV on each seat and endless drinks and snacks. I
would fly them but only on flights up to 3 hours.
