Possibly, although it remains to be seen if Mapleflot is going to
do anything about losing the extra capacity over the southern
summer with the 747's being parked. If they do add capacity
it may help.

If you use Air Canada on all sectors you will be allowed 2 stopovers
on the itinerary plus Sydney as your destination point. If you use
a Star reward (is also 75,000 points for a return) you will only be
allowed one stopover plus Sydney as the destination. A Star
reward is one where you use 1 or more Star Alliance carriers with
or without any Air Canada on any part of the itinerary.
An Air Canada reward will let you change days/times at any time.
If the booking is ticketed, there will be a charge to do so. Once
a Star reward is ticketed, no changes are permitted at all.
In both cases, if you cancel the trip before starting it, there is a
charge but your points are re-credited back to your account.
If you want to re-route the booking after it's ticketed, again there
is the cancellation fee, points re-credited then a new booking
made.
Caveat - this is how it was last I looked at it !!!
