Default Airline Seating Tip

Many of you probably do this already, but for those that haven't tried
this, here's a tip for you. When we selected our seats on Alaska
Airlines 2 months ago, we used Seatguru to check for the quality seats.

After finding which were good seats we went to Alaska.com and reserved
our seats on what was an almost empty plane. We were on an MD 80, which
has 3 seats on one side and 2 on the other. My son and his girlfriend
chose adjoining seats on the side with just two.

My wife and I chose better seats on the 3 seat side. She chose window
and I chose aisle in the same row. I kept watching for 2 months as the
plane filled up. In the end, we had a full plane, minus one person. We
ended up with 3 seats. The same thing happened on the way home. Had
someone reserved the midle seat, we would have offered them the window
or aisle. If they said no, that would have been fine too for only a 2
hour flight.

It might not work everytime, but it did both ways this trip. I hope
this helps someone else out on their next trip to Vegas (there, that
kept this on topic).

Kurt

Default Airline Seating Tip

Going out and coming back on Air Tran out of DFW, I noticed several
couples that had an empty seat in the middle. I was wondering if they
may have done what your talking about.

As a side note, we had used the internet checkin to choose our seats
the day before for Air Tran. We were going to do the same on the flight
home, but the Tropicana's "business center" if you want to call it
that, was busted.
So we called Air Tran's 800 number to confirm the flight and they
actually reserved our seats for us on the phone. That might be
something to try if you can't get online to pre checkin.

Maybe its just me, but any seat that arrives intact and reasonably on
time is fine with me. I do not care one way or the other if I sit next
to my travel companion(s) assuming our individual seats all follow the
same flight path (i.e., no crashes) because I usually get settled,
listen to my iPod and fairly quickly nod off to sleep, read, or fiddle
with my laptop. My travel companions usually do the same. I do prefer an
aisle seat because it is easier if I need to stretch my legs or go to
the bathroom and I will opt for an aisle seat even if it means not
sitting next to any travel companions.

You must not be 6'3"!
I try to always get an aisle seat...my last trip the guy next to me got up
to go to the rest room 3 times...each time when I'd just fallen asleep or
gotten comfortable with laptop/movie. This was Delta...I've never had this
problem on SWA...yet.
All I can hope is that my AirTran trip is a good one!
